Alexandra Maria Lara is a Romanian-German actress on television and film famous for her performance in movies such as Downfall Youth Without Youth Control and Rush. Born as the only child of Romanian acting star Valentin Platareanu, Alexandra entered the world of show business early, and ended up playing lead roles in different shows on television by the time she was sixteen. Her critically acclaimed role in the film made for television Der Tunnel paved way for more notable roles like the role of Secretary to Adolf Hitler Traudl Junge, in the critically and commercially successful Oscar nominated historical war film Downfall. Other Oscar nominated film starring the famous diva are The Reader and Der Baader Meinhof Komplex. Alexandra is associated with numerous important projects both locally as well as internationally. They include British biographical film Control as well as The Dust of Time as along with the French historic miniseries Napoleon. She was also on the jury of the Transylvania International Film Festival, and also at Cannes Film Festival.
